Servo voltage stabilizers is a electro-mechanical engineering product. A variable transformer is driven by AC Synch. Motor with the help of gear assembly. Since there are moving parts, which needs a certain low-level maintainance.
Even with moving parts it is a far more reliable method of stabilizing voltages than electronic tap-changing techniques, which due to surges and transients on the mains supply are prone to failure. The long-life and low cost of ownership makes servo stabilizers a very economical and reliable solution.
